Darker and more opulently fruity than previous vintages, the 2012 Watershed includes a co-fermented blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (52%), Merlot (19%), Cabernet Franc (19%), and Petite Verdot (10%). The Watershed offers figgy aromas and an elegantly spiced core of intense cherry flavors, reflecting its complex Bordeaux heritage, especially the Cab Franc. Like all of our 2012s, there is more body and tannic structure that leaves a powerful lasting impression which promises years of enjoyment if you choose to age this wine.
2012 was the first year of our now-famous drought, with 60% of average rainfall and 110% of the average heat index (growing degree days). The resulting small berries and intense ripeness produced beautifully fruit forward wines with ample structure.
